The exam preparation process is a long and challenging marathon for both students and the teachers who guide them. Especially in competitive exams like the YKS, keeping students' motivation high, identifying their shortcomings immediately, and establishing a personalized tracking system are the keys to success. However, the new learning habits brought on by the digital age also bring new challenges.

Today, we will witness the inspiring story of Tamer Közleme, a Mathematics Teacher and YKS Coach working at the Antakya Hz. Ayşe Girls' AİHL in Hatay. Teacher Tamer shares with us how he found an innovative solution to a common problem faced by his students with Madlen.

"Thanks to Madlen, my students now know what they do not know."

Issue: YouTube Camps and the "Passive Watching" Trap

YouTube is an indispensable resource for students preparing for exams. Videos and camps provided by expert teachers facilitate subject learning. However, Teacher Tamer states that he has identified a critical issue at this point:  the habit of passive watching.

Teacher Tamer summarizes the process with these words:  "Most students start the exam process in our school quite motivated, but over time they may face difficulties in reviewing the subjects, realizing their gaps, and keeping track regularly. Now, students are joining a course camp on YouTube while preparing for the exam. The issue we face here is the habit of passive watching."

Students watch videos for hours, but they were unable to accurately assess how much they understood the subject by the end of the video, or where they had gaps. This situation made students’ time inefficient and made it difficult for the coaching teacher to identify the student's real needs.

The End of the Search and Solution: The Power of Madlen's "Interactive Material"

With the question "How can I turn this passive watching into active learning?", Tamer Közleme began his research, and his path intersected with Madlen. One of the features offered by Madlen became a true turning point for him.

Teacher Tamer describes his favorite feature of Madlen as follows: "One of my favorite features of Madlen is the 'Interactive Material' tool. With this tool, I can automatically generate questions from any video on YouTube. This way, students can immediately assess how much they learned while watching the video. Meanwhile, I can instantly track which questions they are struggling with from the teacher panel."

This feature provided a direct solution to the passive watching problem. Now, videos were no longer just content to be watched and passed over; they became dynamic lessons where the student actively participated, received instant feedback, and the teacher monitored the whole process transparently.

In Practice with Madlen: A Lesson on 'Limits'

The moment theory is put into practice clearly shows the difference created by Madlen. Teacher Tamer explains this process with a concrete example he experienced:

"One of my students wanted to study the topic of limits. Together with the relevant video of the teacher he followed on YouTube, we created automatic questions through Madlen. While my student was watching the video, it was paused at certain intervals, and questions related to what had been explained so far appeared on the screen. While solving these questions, he immediately realized the points where he had gaps. In our next meeting, we focused only on the parts he struggled with, and we had a very productive review opportunity."

Thanks to this simple yet effective method:

  1. The Student understood where he struggled with the topic based on data, not just by memorization.

  2. The Teacher transformed the coaching session from a general "How are you, are the subjects finished?" conversation into a targeted support session that directly focused on the points where the student was stuck.

  3. Time was used in the most efficient way.

Conclusion: Transformation from Passive Watcher to Active Participant

Teacher Tamer summarizes the transformation created by Madlen with these words:  "This process has transformed my students' studying from passively watching into active learning. I was able to provide personalized support by clearly tracking which student had gaps in understanding which topic during the coaching process."

A Call from Teacher Tamer to His Colleagues

Tamer Közleme shares his experiences in the hope that they will inspire all of his colleagues and concludes with these final words:

"Especially for students who struggle to keep track of topics during the exam process and cannot measure their learning level even after watching videos, Madlen offers a great opportunity. I definitely recommend all teacher colleagues who want to make the coaching process more efficient to try it out. I thank Madlen and the Madlen team for their contributions."
